What is a herbarium? It is a collection of plants, named, described, classified, and pressed onto sheets, transformed into objects of observation, comparison, and preservation. It reveals the astonishing multitude of natural forms while simultaneously reflecting the human impulse to impose scientific order and classification upon the natural world. At the Zamek Cultural Centre, Anna Król's exhibition "The World as a Herbarium. Nature in Art from the 17th to the 21st Century" traces this ambivalence across more than four centuries.

Now entering its third edition, OPERA is a festival of experimental and avant-garde music that promises enticing encounters beyond the familiar, exploring sounds that resist easy categorisation. "The one quality shared by all of the artists and ensembles we've invited is that they create unique contemporary music that is distinctly their own and cannot be confused with anything else," says Krystian Piotr, curator and independent organiser of the LAS concert series, inviting audiences to join the event.

The Museum of Fantastic Art in Warsaw and the Historical Museum in Sanok - the sole heir to Zdzisław Beksiński's estate - invite the people of Poznań to the Poznań International Fair (MTP), where, from 18 July, one of the largest exhibitions of this artist's work in history is on display. The exhibition "Beksiński in Poznań' comprises 76 original paintings by the artist, 30 photographs and 13 drawings.

The line-up will feature world-famous artists such as the Sex Pistols, Nova Twins, Wolf Alice and Within Temptation, alongside Poland's leading acts: Lady Pank, Acid Drinkers, Dżem and Kult. This year's Rockowizna festival promises to generate a great deal of excitement.

The Wolsztyn locomotive depot was established in 1907 to serve four railway lines leading towards the towns of Konotop, Grodzisk Wielkopolski, Sulechów and Leszno. Despite the age of steam traction being long gone, the spirit of that time is still very much alive there. Today, the Wolsztyn depot remains the world's only operational site of its kind where steam locomotives continue to haul scheduled passenger trains.

2026 marks 60 years since the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of one of the largest urban projects of the post-war Poznan - the Rataje district. The exhibition tells Rataje's story from the perspective of the architects' vision as well as the everyday life of its inhabitants.

After a successful debut that drew nearly 70,000 visitors last year, the BitterSweet Festival returns to Citadel Park for its second edition with a programme befitting a major European music festival. Over three days and nights in August, more than forty artists will perform across four stages, with a line-up encompassing pop icons, the energy of the club scene, upbeat guitar music and emerging artists on the verge of wider recognition. BitterSweet is an international festival taking place in the very heart of Poznań.

The day-one line-up features Sam Greenfield, Gretchen Parlato and Nubiyan Twist, followed by Ledisi, Hiromi's Sonicwonder and the Blue Jazz Orchestra with Anna Gadt & Jerzy Małek on day two.

As it does every summer, the much-loved Old Town Organ Concerts return to Poznań.
