What influenced the design of the new district? Were all the initial objectives of the urban planners achieved?
What did the process of the construction of the estates and organising life in the former rural areas look like? What did the everyday life of the inhabitants of the newly-built estates look like? What are their memories from moving in? Where did they do the shopping? How did they spend their free time?
Śluza Gallery presents Rataje as a space which, on the one hand, was meticulously planned, and on the other hand, was gradually domesticated by those who made it their home.
The exhibition was designed with various groups of visitors in mind - those who remember the beginnings of Rataje's estates as well as those who will discover their history for the first time. Apart from archival photographs, memories and historical materials, you will also find here interactive challenges and activities designed for children.
Exhibition: "Everything was within easy reach. The history of Rataje's housing estates" ("Wszystko było w zasięgu. Historia ratajskich osiedli")
