The time spent in Poznań was a period of intense exploration and artistic inspiration for Drzewiecki. Here, his vision of what a ballet company could be and what role it should play took shape. The experience gained at the Poznań Opera House served as an impulse for future endeavors, which found their fullest expression in the establishment of the Polish Dance Theatre a few years later.

Drzewiecki's artistic path confirms that behind an innovative choreographic language, a bold vision and a groundbreaking work lie earlier experiences, explorations and inspirations often overshadowed by later achievements. To mark the centenary of Conrad Drzewiecki's birth, we would like to invite you on a visual journey through the archives of the Poznań Opera House, where he launched his career and to which he would return time and again.  Press materials documenting the reception of his work since the 1970s bring Drzewiecki back as a vivid figure of Polish artistic life - not only a historical icon, but an artist whose ideas and language remain a source of ongoing reflection. The passing time blurs the contours of remembered events, leaving behind physical traces, such as the photographs, press clippings, handwritten notes and theatrical posters presented in this exhibition.

The selected photographs come from the archives of the Poznań Opera House and showcase choreographies created or arranged by Conrad Drzewiecki.
