Mariza's Fado

For years, Mariza has stood for what is most beautiful in fado, championing the elegant and popular side of this genre that eagerly borrows from noble pop. In this genre, both in instrumentalisation and the vocals, Mariza reigns supreme as an undisputed star.

Her music embodies a perfect fusion of refined sounds and authentic, traditional inspirations, coupled with a captivating formula that readily resonates with audiences worldwide. Her latest 2020 release Mariza canta Amália, which, as the title suggests, explores (very successfully) the repertoire of the "queen of fado" Amália Rodrigues, has fulfilled her artistic dreams, as Mariza herself admits.

Her full name is Marisa dos Reis Nunes. Born in Mozambique, she moved to Portugal as a child. In 2002, she released her debut album Fado em Mim. Since then, she has amassed a rich discography of a dozen or so studio and live albums, as well as a fan following in all parts of the world. She has collaborated with Sting, Lenny Kravitz, Cesaria Evora, and many others.

Organised by the European Art Forum Foundation, this concert is the inaugural indoor event of the summer edition of Enter Enea Festival in Poznań.
