The event's prime aim is to provide young, talented pianists from around the world with opportunities to display their artistic skill, get appraised and gain support in either launching and boosting their musical careers. A big part of its mission is to educate students musically and help them develop their tastes in and beyond music. The competition will kick off on 18 September with a recital by Krzysztof Książek, winner of its 4th edition. It will close with a winners' concert on 25 September. The performances will be judged by an international jury made up of eminent pianists: Elżbieta Stefańska of Poland, Joanna Marcinkowska of Poland, Anna Organiszczak of Poland, Wojciech Świtała of Poland, Stefan Wojtas of Poland, Kevin Kenner of the United States, Philippe Giusiano of France, and Katsumi Ueda of Japan.
