Photography exhibition: Historia MoJA ma początek. Jewelry of the world by Maria Magdalena Kwiatkiewicz
They say the beginning can be pinpointed. After all, it's marked on a timeline. Like birth, it has a specific date. Yet, this single moment, called the beginning, is comprised of many preceding and parallel events. They lead like a thread to a ball of yarn. Or like a tangle of roots to a tree leaf. Therefore, there would be no photograph of jewelry if there hadn't first been an encounter with the person wearing it. They wouldn't wear it, precisely this way - small or large, made of stone or seed, multicolored or metal - if it hadn't been shaped by a confluence of historical, cultural, and geological factors. Thanks to her years of travel, the artist has been collecting jewelry from various corners of the world. Over time, the collection has grown so large that the jewelry is now opening its own space. The Museum of Jewellery Art (MoJA) is being built in Poznań. It houses both artistic and ethnic jewelry.
