Malta Festival Poznań is a marriage of concerts, experimental performances, intimate projects in urban space, round-the-clock activities of the festival club and meetings with philosophers, sociologists and literary scholars. For over a quarter of a century, the Festival has been a melting pot of traditions, themes and forms. Malta Festival Poznań (known as the Malta International Theatre Festival until 2009) ranks among Central and Eastern Europe's most prominent artistic events. The Festival was established in 1991, intended as an opportunity to stage outdoor, off-mainstream, non-repertory, experimental theatre performances in Poland. Over time, its formula was broadened to embrace other art forms.
