Babu Król & Smutne Piosenki - concert
This authorial dancing album was created in spring 2018, as a joint effort of the Association of Young Culture Animators from Poznań, women of the Seniors' Club "Radość" from Gniezno, and the leader of Pogodno, Jacek Szymkiewicz aka Budyń. During workshops held as part of the "OFF Opera" project, they were looking for the most romantic stories the ladies remembered from their youth. By a lucky coincidence all the stories we heard in the course of our meetings involved dancing with a stranger at dance nights. The ladies painted a detailed picture of the now forgotten form of social gatherings, recalling the evening attire and the required forms of conduct, the repertoire of dance steps and the genres which today would qualify as "retro". The stories-powerful, beautiful, and moving-immediately transformed into songs, and the songs into a material for a dancing album. Budyń played it first for the ladies from Gniezno, then recorded it with an excellent Poznań band Smutne Piosenki, only to present it proudly on the album and at live performances entitled Nowa Fala Polskiego Dansingu.
