Mój Teatr (My Theatre)

Description

Mój Teatr is Poznań's first professional private theatre. It was created in 2011 by Joanna Nawrocka and Marek Zgaiński, a writer, playwright, and author of radio plays, known to wider audiences for his column "Tabletka z krzyżykiem" ("A Painkiller"), which has been playing daily on Radio Merkury for over a decade. Marek Zgaiński set up a remarkable theatre. He has personally written the majority of its scripts and directed a number of plays.

The theatre's actors are artists with links to Poznań who have already gained wide recognition both locally in the city and nationally. The theatre's repertoire is made up of contemporary plays. While these could be called comedies, they are not ordinary farces as, in addition to laughter, they evoke deeper reflection. Mój Teatr is an art-house committed to staging regular performances. Its location in a confined, intimate space, known for its atmosphere and closeness between artists and viewers, has earned it the nickname of the Poznań Piwnica pod Baranami (The Rams Cellar: a famous cabaret club in Kraków).
