Description

"Pygmalion" - George Bernard Shaw's famous satire from 1912, which has been adapted into 11 films, including the famous American musical "My Fair Lady" from 1964, is now appearing on the stage of the Teatr Polski in Poznań. Over a hundred years after its premiere, "Pygmalion" consistently inspires the next generation of creators who are building their own performances based on this masterpiece.

Following the penetrating intuition of the author of the original, the performance looks at social tensions and explores possible, potential scenarios for the coming decades. We are transported to the near, dystopian future. The countries of the European Union have decided to deport all immigrants from the territories of united Europe. Persecution occurs, crowded train stations bring back the darkest memories, and an atmosphere of fear and distrust prevails. As a form of protest, a certain intelligent and very liberal family from Poznań decides to go on strike and not go to work. One day, they discover a migrant hiding in their basement. They decide to help her. But to save Elizavieta, they have to not only teach her to speak Polish without an accent, but also create a European, a Meta-Polish woman out of her. A race against time and a breakneck attempt to carve out a completely new identity begins.
