Stanisław Słowiński's Violin Concerto No. 1 Visions is a composition founded on the musical bridges which connect inspiration with the classical canon of grand violin solo forms and the rich history of violin as a solo instrument in jazz and improvised music. Much the same applies to style, as the composer set out from inspiration with the canon of solo compositions for violin, approaching the literature comprehensively: from classical works, through romantic concertos which still predominate on international stages, to contemporary pieces, with particular emphasis on the oeuvre of Polish composers, such as Karol Szymanowski or H.M. Górecki. However, the ultimate shape of the composition also derives from the jazz canon (especially its violin literature), freely improvised music (including intuitive improvisation), as well as film, experimental, and traditional music.
