MARCIN WASILEWSKI TRIO: 25th ANNIVESARY concert
Marcin Wasilewski Trio is the most world-famous Polish jazz trio, founded by the brilliant pianist Marcin Wasilewski and bassist Sławomir Kurkiewicz. The musicians have long been international ambassadors of Polish culture. In 2019, the ensemble celebrates their 25th anniversary in the very same line-up: Marcin Wasilewski on piano, Sławomir Kurkiewicz on double bass, and Michał Miśkiewicz on drums.
The anniversary of Marcin Wasilewski Trio coincides with the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the world's leading label-ECM Records-with which the Trio have already released five of their albums, previously featuring on three albums of the much missed Tomasz Stańko in his Kwartet.
Another significant occassion is this year's 50th anniversary of death of Krzysztof Komeda. After his departure, the musicians of Marcin Wasilewski Trio (originally as Simple Acoustic Trio) were the first to draw on Komeda's music on their debut LP Komeda, one of the most widely commented debuts at the time.
In December 2019, a Polish tour will take place to celebrate the anniversary. During their concerts, the Trio will show the various facets of their work, whilst paying tribute to their great masters and mentors: Krzysztof Komeda and the recently departed Tomasz Stańko.
