Muzeum Ziemi WNGIG UAM (Earth Museum)

Description

The Earth Museum Workshop (or Earth Museum for short) is housed in the Faculty of Geography and Geology of Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznań.

The institution prides itself on its unique collection of meteorites. One of its prized possessions is Poland's largest meteorite called Memorss, weighing nearly 262 kg. In addition to the collection of Morasko meteorite fragments, the Earth Museum holds stone and stone-and-iron meteorites found in Morocco, Oman and Chelyabinsk. Featured as well is a remarkable collection of Polish agates from the Kaczawskie Mountains, which amaze visitors with their vivid colours and unique patterns. Another attraction is an exhibition on the geological history of Poland, which takes visitors on a journey through time, 450 million years into the past, to the country's former oceans and lands, and on virtual reality tours to witness the fall of the Morasko meteorite and the most recent ice age.
