JazZamek #25 - Andrzej Kowalski Quartet "Abstrakt"
Andrzej Kowalski Quartet is an ensemble composed of musicians studying at the Academy of Music in Wrocław, Academy of Music in Katowice, and the University of Music in Warsaw. They play authorial compositions of the leader, inspired by his multiple musical fascinations. Though their style is unmistakeably that of jazz, one does discern the elements of other genres, such as classical and electronic music, minimalism, or rock. The band have performed at international jazz festivals, such as Dobro Jazz in Romania and Art Jazz in Ukraine. This year, they were among the winners of the Institute of Music and Dance programme "Jazz Phonographic Debut", which enabled them to release their debut LP Abstrakt.
